Cover Your Butts at Bonnaroo
When 90,000 music lovers descend on a 700-acre farm in Tennessee, it can only mean one thing:
It’s time for Bonnaroo!
This year, blu eCigs teamed up with Clean Vibes Trading Post to help keep Bonnaroo fun and clean.
blu at Bonnaroo
Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is a legendary annual event—the biggest music event in North America. Every year, hundreds of musicians, filmmakers, artists, comedians, craftsman and more congregate to celebrate creativity with 80,000 rabid fans.
This year, Bonnaroo featured an epic line-up that included Paul McCartney, Wu-Tang Clan, Passion Pit, The Lumineers, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Björk, Of Monsters and Men, Nas, and tons more. Dozens of stages and hundreds of tents provided performance space to more than 150 of today’s biggest musical acts.
There was also a 100-acre entertainment village with a classic arcade, an on-site cinema, a silent disco, a comedy club, theater performers, a beer festival, and a music technology village. blu eCigs hosted The Vapor Lounge, an air-conditioned space where adult smokers could charge their devices and enjoy a free blu eCigs® electronic cigarette in Classic Tobacco or Magnificent Menthol.
blu & Clean Vibes Go Green
At Bonnaroo this past June, blu eCigs partnered with Clean Vibes Trading Post to launch a new initiative called “Cover Your Butts” with. Clean Vibes is a non-profit that encourages festivalgoers to participate in cleaning up the grounds. People can collect various types of recycling—like cans or bottles—or trash—like cigarette butts.
These items are placed in provided bags. When anyone brings back a bag, they are given points that they can redeem to win various prizes.
Our “Cover Your Butt” program was launched with the goal of reducing cigarette butt litter on the
festival grounds. Festival goers stopped by the Trading Post and picked up a small bag. Over the run of the festival, they filled the bags with cigarette butts. Just like with cans and bottles, the cigarette butts had points associated with them. Fans could accumulate points over the weekend, and then cash them in for cool prizes.
The festival goer who collected the most overall recycling points throughout the weekend won two tickets to Bonnaroo 2014!
The Cover Your Butts initiative provided an easy way for fans to participate in keeping the festival clean and green. Reducing the environmental impact to the grounds is definitely in keeping with the blu™ mindset of reducing trash generated by traditional cigarettes. Less trash, less mess, more environmentally-friendly fun.
Were you at Bonnaroo this year? Did you help us kick butts? Tell us about it on Facebook!
