Fight for Your Freedom to Choose Electronic Cigarettes
This past week, blu eCigs, its loyal customers and other e-cig supporters participated in a public hearing to oppose proposed legislation by the New York City Council’s Health Committee. The legislation, sponsored by Council Member James F. Gennaro and Speaker Quinn, would include electronic cigarettes in the city’s Smoke-Free Air Act, prohibiting the use of e-cigs in restaurants, offices, parks, beaches and other public spaces despite the fact that e-cigs do not produce tobacco smoke.
This legislation would significantly restrict the freedom of those like you who have made the personal choice to switch to electronic cigarettes.
In addition to the recent updates out of New York City, the US Food and Drug Administration recently announced its intent to also issue regulations regarding e-cigarettes in the coming months.
Defend Your Smoking Freedom
Please contact your local state representatives to let them know where you stand on this issue. Tell them that:
- You oppose banning the use of e-cigs in indoor and outdoor locations.
- E-cigs are different than cigarettes because they produce water vapor instead of smoke, and don’t create ash.
- E-cigs are a welcome alternative to cigarettes.
- E-cigs can reduce the amount of cigarette butts commonly found on roads and sidewalks.
And of course, if you’ve already made the switch to electronic cigarettes, please share with your state representatives your personal reasons for doing so.
The more you can advocate about electronic cigarettes to lawmakers and those who are unfamiliar with vapor technology, the better chance these restrictive laws will not be passed. Education can ease concerns, correct any misconceptions and help increase the acceptance of vaping as a preferred alternative to traditional tobacco smoking.
Get out and show your support for e-cigs because smokers should have the freedom to choose an alternative.
